A day in the life

Our dogs and our house

This summer has settled into a steady day-to-day routine for me. Mornings I get up about 45 minutes after Heather who goes running or walking the dogs. We waste a large amount of time over our coffees and newspaper, then Heather goes to work.A typical breakfast scene at our place, albeit featuring neither myself nor Heather. These two are Ian and Helen savouring a last bit of civilisation before heading off overseas on their yacht later that day.

Heather leaving for work is my cue to pick up my paintbrushes in a disciplined manner and put in a solid 8 hours of creative energy.

A very happy painter muli-tasking with the one-day-cricket. Please note: It is a well known fact that the camera adds forty pounds!

Unfortunately there are a couple of distractions that often get the better of me, namely hang gliding and windsurfing. If conditions develop during the morning suitable for either of these sports I find it physically impossible to resist dropping whatever I am doing and going out for a blast.Having a windsurf outside my front door on an irresistible morning.

A photo of Chris Shaw, my neighbour, best friend (well, equal best) and sporting partner-in-crime. Taken from my hang glider as we flew over our homes.

Heather usually returns at about 5;30pm, to an immaculate house, all the washing in off the line, a glass of wine poured for her on the table and a plate of nibbles lovingly prepared by me. That's the theory, but the odd technical hitch does occur at times...
A scene that plays out all too often at our house: Various friends drinking a tad too much and being entertained/offended by Chris Shaw.
